Reetoxa’s Soliloquy is a deeply personal body of work born from isolation

Reetoxa’s Soliloquy is a deeply personal body of work born from isolation, endurance, and a relentless creative drive under pressure. The inspiration behind the music traces back to the height of the COVID-19 pandemic—a period that forced many artists into stillness, but for Jason, the mind behind Reetoxa, it sparked a different kind of urgency.

Unable to properly record his intended debut album due to restrictions, Jason pivoted. Instead of waiting, he began crafting what would become Soliloquy, immersing himself in a raw, almost obsessive creative process. Living on the bare essentials—cigarettes and coffee—he pushed himself to emotional and physical extremes. This intensity bleeds into the music, which feels less like a conventional album and more like an unfiltered journal set to sound. The themes revolve around memory, fear, personal history, and introspection, capturing the weight of a life examined under a microscope.

The story behind Soliloquy stretches far beyond the pandemic, however. Its roots date back to 1997, when Jason first began writing what he describes assoliloquies”—fragments of thought, emotion, and narrative. Over the years, only one piece,Bottle Surviving, endured while the rest remained unfinished, shelved, or forgotten. It wasn’t until the forced pause of the pandemic that he revisited this archive of incomplete ideas.

What began as a scattered collection eventually evolved into an ambitious concept: a sprawling six-album project. But rather than releasing an overwhelming volume of material, Jason refined his vision. He distilled the work down to 26 tracks—each carefully selected to create a cohesive emotional and sonic flow. This process of reduction was as important as the creation itself, shaping Soliloquy into a focused, intentional experience rather than a loose compilation.

Ultimately, Soliloquy stands as both a time capsule and a catharsis. It reflects decades of thought, compressed into a moment of global stillness, and reveals an artist confronting himself without compromise.
