Retronomes time-travel through heartache with dreamy “You (Delusion)”

Indie alternative trio Retronomes are dialing into the past to express a timeless ache in their hauntingly beautiful third single, “You (Delusion),” released on April 25, 2025. Hailing from Pemalang, the band leans into the vintage warmth of the 1970s, marrying dream pop textures with the swirling atmospheres of psychedelic rock to craft a sonic experience that’s both nostalgic and emotionally raw.

From the first reverberated guitar strums, “You (Delusion)” feels like a hazy daydream tinged with melancholy. The production is intentionally soaked in reverb and delay, allowing each note to linger like an echo from another dimension. This subtle but deliberate haze enables the track to mimic the song’s theme: a love that feels real but exists only in illusion.

Written by Fahri Bayu Putra, Yogi Tabah Prastyo, and Barep Fajar Bayu Aji, the track explores the fragile space between longing and delusion. The lyrics navigate the slow ache of waiting for someone who may never return, yet remains unforgettable. It's not just a love song; it’s a meditation on the emotional inertia of holding onto something slipping away.

The vocals are intimate and vulnerable, gliding over the instrumentation like a sigh in a quiet room. Meanwhile, the hypnotic rhythm section anchors the track in a groove that feels both cosmic and deeply grounded.

With “You (Delusion),” Retronomes revive retro sounds and breathe new life into them with a poignant, modern emotional core. This track quietly devastates you while wrapping you in a soft, dreamy fog. For fans of Tame Impala, Beach House, or early Pink Floyd, this is a band to watch and to feel.
