Luca Py brings the funk back to the future with "Love Bay"

Luca Py throws a musical curveball that straddles the sweet spot between funky memories and contemporary cockiness. His latest full-length single, "Love Ba," is a horn-driven sprint through the groove streets of soul, chauffeured by the tireless hands of an artist who understands his trade. "Love Bay" deserves a higher stage altogether. It's a new and old sound, all at once: a bridge between generations of funk and hip-hop fans. If there's any justice in the streaming universe, Luca Py's groove will be heard far and wide.

Luca Py, a self-taught guitarist, composer, and producer based in the UK, has served up something sizzling for the senses. "Love Bay" is an ornamental tornado of Funk and Hip-Hop sound, packed with razor-edge guitar cuts, thick walking basslines, and a funk synth bassline snarling up the verses. Inspired by legends such as MF Doom, Parliament Funkadelic, Mos Def, and Vulfpeck, "Love Bay" is what you'd get if you had a late-night jam session with icons and visionaries. It's got that head-nodding hip-hop coolness, lathered in a pleasing silk funk that is all about the feel. The production is clean but not too scrubbed to polish away soul, and the rhythmic pocket Luca rides a few notches ahead of schedule is tight and infectious enough to carry all along.

"Love Bay" boasts an air of musicianship for which many bedroom producers only pine. You can hear Luca Py's fingerprint all over every note his guitar sings, his bass talks back, and his beats have a word or two to say. It's the type of track that adds a little energy and originality to any given Spotify playlist, and it's no wonder it's already caught Lee Good's attention on North Manchester FM and Radio Diamond in the UK. "Love Bay" is not so much a song as a revolution, but it is ready to take a dance through your speakers.
